April Gemstone-of-the-Month: Herkimer Diamond

Our Gemstone-of-the-Month, Herkimer diamond, or double-terminated quartz crystal, was discovered around Herkimer County, New York and the Mohawk River Valley in the 18th century. Herkimers are said to mimic diamonds with their exceptional clarity and natural faceting, each stone naturally forms two points and facets.

Many of the New York Herkimer Diamonds are known for their clarity, and metaphysical groups often ascribe occult properties and mystical powers to them. Believed by some to assist with healing, increasing spiritual energy and opening the crown/third eye chakras, Herkimer Diamonds are also called the "Stone of Attunement" for increasing lucid dreams.

It is popular to give a loved one a Herkimer diamond to keep on their person, activating an energetic bond and drawing loved ones together.
